Zimbabwe, Gold, and the Collapse of the Dollar-Based Economy: The Need for a New Economic System

Thomas Madondoro

The Huster's Corner with DJ Sbu discusses current affairs, Thabo Bester, the Gold Mafia, Prison break, Zimbabwe, and many more.

The case in Zimbabwe that the speaker discusses sheds light on the complexities of international trade and the ways in which economic systems can be manipulated for the benefit of a few. Zimbabwe is a country that has faced numerous challenges, including economic sanctions imposed by the United States and other Western nations. These sanctions have devastated the country's economy and made it difficult for Zimbabwe to access the resources it needs to sustain its people.

One way in which Zimbabweans have sought to overcome these challenges is by using gold to circumvent the sanctions. The speaker notes that some people in Zimbabwe have been selling gold and laundering money to fund the political incumbents who control the country's economy. This practice benefits a few at the top while ordinary Zimbabweans continue to suffer.

The speaker argues that the world's economy based on the dollar is collapsing, and we need a new system that does not empower those who control gold. The Bretton Woods system, which established the dollar as the global reserve currency, has been in place since the end of World War II. However, many people, including the speaker, believe this system has outlived its usefulness and needs replacing.

The speaker suggests that countries like Zimbabwe need to move away from the Bretton Woods system and adopt a new standard.

Despite these challenges, the speaker's call for a new economic system reminds us that we need to think critically about how our economic systems function. The dominance of the dollar and the control of gold by a few powerful actors have allowed for the exploitation of countries like Zimbabwe, perpetuating poverty and inequality. Moving towards a more equitable and sustainable economic system will require bold ideas and collective action.
